Richland One Announces Staff, Student Awards

It is with much pleasure and pride that Richland One announces the following student and staff awards:

A.C. Flora High School Athletes Win State, National Recognition


At the November 10 meeting of the Richland One Board of School Commissioners, three athletes from A.C. Flora High School received recognition for recent state and national honors. Pictured left to right are Richland One Board Vice Chairman Dr. Jasper Salmond, Janson Busby (100-Meter Free-Style Swim AAA State Champ), Collins Bradshaw (2009 All-State Girls Golf Champion) and Thomas Bradshaw (2009 Rolex Junior Golf All-American), along with Flora Athletics Director Mike Sisk and Richland One Superintendent Dr. Percy Mack. As a Rolex Golf All-American, Thomas Bradshaw is considered one of the top 96 student golfers in the nation. Bradshaw’s award puts him in the company of golf great Tiger Woods, who also was a Rolex All-American earlier in his golf career.

Mary McLeod Bethune Outstanding Teacher Award


Burton-Pack Elementary School science instructor Dr. Lemuel Patterson has been named the Mary McLeod Bethune Outstanding Teacher Award recipient by the National Alliance of Black School Educators. The award is bestowed upon teachers whose innovative teaching methods have led to an increase in student achievement.

2008-2009 Richard M. Kuffel Memorial Award

Randy Evans, special needs consultant with the Richland One Career and Technology Education Office, was named the 2008-2009 Richard M. Kuffel Memorial Award recipient. This honor is awarded to an individual who has made a significant contribution in the field of career education and transition for students with disabilities. Evans has been instrumental in designing and planning for Richland One Works (ROW), a school-based enterprise program. The award is sponsored by the SC Division of Career Development and Transition, a division of the Council for Exceptional Children.
